Although snoring may be harmless, it can also be a sign of a more serious medical condition. Although professional oral appliance therapy is listed as very good option for treating snoring and obstructive sleep apnea (Practice Parameters of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine), it is important that your sleep be evaluated by a medical professional to give you your best treatment option.

We recommend that you discuss further evaluation with your primary care physician. He or she can reassess your situation and refer you to a sleep testing facility .

Here is a list of Credentialed Sleep Testing Facilities in our Naperville area that we have worked with in the past. There are more facilities depending on the location that is best convenient for you. Be advised that not all sleep centers are credentialed. We also recommend you discuss insurance costs and reimbursements with the facility you choose to work with.

In some circumstances, a sleep testing center may want you to work with a dentist more familiar with their center. For this reason I have provided a list of credentialed dentists by the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine(AADSM) in Northern Illinois area. Please note: being a ‘general member’ of the AADSM does not require any specific training in professional oral appliance therapy and sleep medicine, while ‘Diplomates’ have passed specific guidelines including written testing and detailed case review assessments.
